When talking about skin care, the number one issue that always comes up is the problem with acne. Many people think that acne is only an issue with teenagers and adolescents, but studies show that even those past the adolescence stage can have major problems with acne due to many factors such as hygiene, environment, eating habits and genes. Acne can be caused by so many things that it would be impossible for people of all ages not to have it. Although what most people don’t know is that there are a lot of different types or kind of acne, more than ten classifications if I’m not mistaken and they are classified by age, cause genes, gender, geography and race. For example, there is Adult acne, which can be caused by a diverse range of factors, such as hormonal imbalances, pollutants, elements related to stress and responses to medications of different kinds. On the other hand, there is also Acne Neonatorium is also commonly known as baby acne. It is caused by the transfer of hormones from mother to child, which stimulates the secretion of sebum in baby skin. You also have Acne Cosmetic, which as the name suggests, is related to the kind of cosmetics you may have used which perhaps did not agree with your skin. In this kind of acne, your skin and pores have reacted adversely to various ingredients contained in your cosmetics. And as it is possible to have acne die to a cosmetic reaction, there is also Acne Medicametosa occurs as a side effect of some medications. These include oral contraceptives, as well as other drugs that contain potassium iodide, potassium bromide and chlorine. As for the race and geography factor, you have Acne Keloidalis, which is generally found among people of African stock. Most of the eruption in this kind of acne is concentrated around the neck. For the gene factory, there is Acne Congoblata, which is normally caused by hereditary factors. This kind of acne causes severe scarring on the face and back. Worse still, there is not very much that you can do about it. And for gender, you have Acne Fulminans, a rather serious form of acne, in which the eruption is accompanied by fever and body ache. This kind of acne mainly affects males and erupts suddenly. Other symptoms of this kind of acne include a high white blood cell count, as well as loss of appetite and deep scarring. These are only some examples of the different classifications of acne.
Generally, different acne classifications would entail different treatment methods and skin regimen. But if what you have is a severe form of acne, and you’ve tried almost any other treatment, one drug that has been tested and proven to prevent, if not stop acne altogether is Roaccutane. It is an ant-acne drug treatment mostly prescribed by doctors dealing with patients that are suffering from severe acne and has tried most other treatments with no success at all. It that has been successful in dealing with severe acne although its success has been somewhat shadowed by some grim reports and stories of some of its possible side effects which may included mental and emotional problems that may even lead to suicide. So always be careful, as with any other drug, Roaccutane may do wonders for you and your skin if taken correctly and with doctor’s strictest advice, but if abused and used in the wrong way, it may also bring about serious mental, physical and emotional issues that may even be harder to deal with than your acne problem.

As we know, there are many types of acne and one of them that are less visible is back acne. Its more likely to feel it than to see it. This kind of acne is not common among acne patients but it is quite the same as acne on our face. Thousands of oil glands are busy over producing oils to ensure your skin is smooth. Tight fitting clothes and fabric that do not allow the skin to breath is the two main reason of back acne popping out. Sometimes, wearing backpack can be one of the causes of back acne but it’s not serious as the reason mentioned above.
The skin of our body contains oil glands which also are evenly spread out throughout our body. Thus, the oil that is overproduced by the oil glands will get trapped. When it is trapped, it gets clogged which combined with dead skin cells and a little help from bacteria, acne is formed. It will soon inflame the tissue around infected area in which it is the same as common acne. Even though it is the same as acne on the face, the treatment methods are not the same. There are treatments for back acne but it is not quite as easy as it looks. Our skin at the back is much thicker than the skin that covers other parts of the body. Due to these differences, we might need different treatment than other parts of the body.
One of the best advice is try to keep your back clean and the best way is to take bath or shower more often especially after a workout. Try to use body shower gels or soaps that contain salicylic or glycolic acid. Exfoliating your back skin can also be done when taking shower to reduce the dead skin cell which is one of the ingredients for acne outbreak.
After your shower, apply some topical products that contain benzoyl peroxide to the areas on the back which has acne outbreak. Make sure your back is dry before the application. Its best to rub the topical medication on the skin to ensure it is absorbed into the skin. It is good to make sure your hand is washed up clean before applying the medication as we don’t want any infection. Try not to apply all over your back as it is useless to do that and ask for help to apply if needed. Over application can cause dryness in the skin.
For mild cases of back acne, you might want to try natural solutions like, tea tree oil, homeopathic treatments, Chinese herbs and other cleansing herbs like milk thistle.
Even though back acne or back pimples is not common but we should be aware and treat it before it gets worse. If it gets worse, do consult a dermatologist as it might turn out as not a normal kind of back acne.

Everything from bullies to difficult assignments from teachers (and perhaps a lot of homework) but something that seems so cruel that many children go through is problems with their skin. You probably remember your classmates that had skin problems when you were in school, the other children could be so terribly cruel. They would call them names like pizza face, and that hurts. Not only do they have to put up with the physical scars that acne can leave behind but they also need to deal with emotional scars left by their peers.
Fortunately we live in a day and age where there are some pretty good solutions for dealing with acne and skin problems. There are all sorts of treatments available from prescriptions chemicals that treat the problem as well as clearing up what acne is already found on your body to laser treatments that are new and upcoming in this particular field. Some of the better acne medicines work quickly and are highly endorsed by celebrities that also have to deal with skin problems and are in the public eye.
My favorite acne solutions, however, is a natural solution. My son came to visit me for the summer and he had a really bad skin problem. I feel that it was caused by the diet that he usually eats of greasy fast foods and soda. He really wanted to do something to help his acne so I took a look on the Internet and found some natural solutions. Some of the things that he did, on a daily basis, were to scrub his face with sea salt and vinegar, then let the solution sit on his face for a half hour before wiping it off. He also ate 2 slices of raw red beets and drank a warm cup of lemon water daily. This was to help clear his system of impurities so that his face would not continue to break out. It worked to a certain extent and a lot of the redness went away.
No matter what type of treatment you decide to use it’s always best to ask the advice of a professional before trying anything erratic. Although natural treatments are fairly benign in nature you may have a reaction that you don’t expect so make sure you discuss it with your dermatologist before doing anything out of the ordinary.

Acne problems are not just the jurisdiction of teenagers. A surprising number of adults develop acne at some point in their lives - up to 25% of men and 50% of women. Some adults even develop acne where they didn’t have it as teenagers. For women especially, this can occur around changes in their hormonal cycle, and during or after pregnancy. Many women with severe acne use certain types of birth control to help deal with it, as they may be taking birth control anyway.
So, what steps can you take to avoid developing acne problems?
If you have sensitive or dry skin, be careful about using harsh skin care products. When the skin dries out too much, it produces more oil to compensate for the dryness. This can even be true for people with oily skin and large pores. Some people have found that taking fish oil or flaxseed oil supplements really help improve their skin. They are certainly an excellent way of dealing with chronically dry skin, and essential fatty acids like flaxseed oil are a favorite with naturopaths in treating acne. For adults and women in particular, some of the acne treatments used for teenagers will be too harsh for the skin. This includes benzoyl peroxide based products, which really dry out the skin even more. As well as contributing to the development of wrinkles, by weakening the skin, they don’t support the function of the skin as a barrier.
Stress can be a big factor in the types of hormones our body produces. And despite some dermatologists refusing to acknowledge a link, research published on CNN in 2002 found there was a correlation between stress and acne. The researchers found that a hormone called corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) is released into the sebaceous glands (which produce oil in the skin), which sets the foundation for acne. Corticotropin-releasing hormone is a stress related hormone. Researchers are not sure at this time whether stress plays a role in causing acne, or just exacerbates outbreaks. Either way, reducing stress in your life should lead to an improvement in your skin, especially combines with other approaches.
Ways of releasing stress in your life include mediation, tai chi, yoga, or simply repriotitizing your life so that you are doing more of the things you want to do. Naturopaths and traditional systems of medicine, like Traditional Chinese Medicine, consider the health of the digestive tract to be important. The skin is considered one way the body expels waste, and if the body is overloaded, or sluggish, then skin problems may occur. So, dietary changes are usually recommended in line with this philosophy. Acidophilus may be recommended as it improves the health of the bowel. This is especially true if people have been given antibiotics to treat acne with, as antibiotics destroy the beneficial bacteria in the colon.
Other foods, like dairy products and refined carbohydrates like bread and flour products (including pasta), may be suggested as foods to at least minimize in your diet, or avoid completely. These foods are harder to digest, and many people are in fact lactose intolerant.

You look in the mirror and you are frustrated to see that your worst problem refuses to go away. Acne! If you are battling with the dreaded acne, you are not alone. Chances are you are among the 80% of people of all races that suffer from this condition.
Acne is the term used to refer to skin disorders characterized by persistent and recurring reddish blemishes on the face and other parts of the body including the neck, shoulders, chest, upper back and/or buttocks.
Acne is commonly manifested in these areas due to the predominance of sebaceous (or oil producing) glands in these areas. These glands are responsible for producing sebum, the natural lubricant of the skin and hair. Sebum is normally drawn off onto the skin surface through the pores. When the pores are blocked by excess oil or hair, sebum accumulates under the skin causing a “plug”. This allows pimple-causing bacteria to thrive in the plugged pores resulting in inflammation and acne.
The term “acne” may also be used to refer to whiteheads, blackheads and pimples. Whiteheads develop when a pore becomes clogged, stays just beneath the skin and bulges out forming a white bump. A blackhead, on the other hand, results when a clogged pore remains open and forms a dark center due to the exposure of sebum in the air. Pimples are formed when infected whiteheads rupture. This infection makes the skin look red.
Although acne may not be a serious health condition, its existence may cause significant emotional concern to acne sufferers. For a very long period of time, acne had been blamed to a variety of things, from eating chocolates and greasy foods to dirty skin to stress. However, there is still insufficient evidence on the relationship between acne and these factors. Although the exact cause of acne is still unknown, its incidence can be attributed to many factors. Among these are:
Hormonal changes. Acne is most prevalent during puberty. This can be attributed to the increase in the male sex hormones called androgen in both boys and girls. This hormonal imbalance causes the sebaceous glands to enlarge and produce more sebum. Some adolescent girls and women may also experience acne outbreaks before their menstrual periods. Pregnancy also causes hormonal changes, which may explain why pregnant women are susceptible to acne outbreaks. Starting or stopping birth control pills may likewise cause acne.
Heredity or genetics. Research proves that heredity plays an important role in determining the tendency to develop acne. If one parent suffers from acne, it is possible that he or she may pass the condition to his children.
Bacteria. Certain bacteria have the tendency to infect oil glands and skin pores.
Drugs. Certain drugs, including lithium and androgen are also known to cause acne.

Acne treatments do not necessarily have to involve oral medications. But conventional solutions may produce good results. Application of topical solutions, dermatological treatments and use of medications could provide good solutions to your aggravated skin problems. However, some people may not react positively (or may not react at all) to these solutions. This is why it is important to note that there are the remedies that could be used to help your acne production subside. There are simple natural solutions you could use to eliminate the excessive oil production and the irregular bumps of your skin and these include the ones we have enumerated below.
One quick note though: simple natural solutions to acne skin problems are downright simple, however the results vary depending on the way your body reacts to the changes you have done on your body. Thus, it is vital to find the one that will suit to your needs. Simple natural solutions have been developed over the years. In the early 1900’s, it is interesting to note that dermatologists have actually used x-rays for acne treatment but as was expected the attempt proved to be futile. During the subsequent years, many other methods were developed to prevent the exacerbation of acne production and to produce the treatments that would likely lead to pimple-free face. However, solutions such as benzoyl peroxide, minocycline and tetracycline were not able to answer all problems regarding acne while producing unnecessary side effects. It did not take long though for dermatologist to head back to nature and find the right solutions that are face-friendly without having to use sophisticated chemical solutions.
Thus, they were able to produce a number of concoctions, mixture and other natural solutions that have proved to be good for the skin while eliminating the aggravation of acne and other skin problems. However, unlike commercially-produced acne products, natural acne solutions must be used with faith since there are no standard measure that implicates how to use them properly. For example, a combination of egg whites, cornstarch and milk magnesia could help prevent your acne from developing. However, the main question with this, among other similar mixtures of home ingredients is the proper application, the proper mixture and the proper process by which it works. Also, the use of papaya seed and meat are known to help exfoliate the skin which is crucial in the removal of dead cells in the skin. There are commercial products that come from laboratory measured concoctions. However, when the mixture is done at home, no one is as sure as to how much papaya meat must be used to encourage the skin to react positively.
The good thing though is that there are lots of commercial products today which are primarily based from simple acne solutions. Some good examples are the bar soaps that are made from out meal and other ingredients that were popular only among home remedies. This integration of simple natural solutions to acne has created newer options for people who are eager to seek every possible ways to give themselves renewed and healthy skin.
But the use of these products must be combined with simple measures that must be exercised religiously. One cannot expect for these products to yield miraculous improvements form the skin without the intervention of the person. Thus, it is still necessary for one to maintain hygienic measures such as cleansing the skin properly on the regular basis, maintaining a well balanced diet and intake of fluid to help the body produce better skin, and conscious use of skin products both for maintenance and removal of acne.

This, of course, is of little comfort to those who heard this advice too late and are already living with serious acne scarring.
Whether your acne scars require treatment depends very much on the individual, as well as the severity of the scars. Some people are not bothered by their scars and assume that they will fade over time. For others scars can lead to a huge decline in their self-confidence, increased anxiety and depression. It has even been suggested that serious scarring can increase risk of suicide, particularly in men. Acne scars have such an impact because they are generally found on the face, which is a part of the body that cannot be hidden. Some people with severe acne scarring find it difficult to look someone in the face when they meet them, perhaps because they are scared of seeing that person’s reaction to their scars. Even body scars can affect a person’s self-confidence, particularly in situations where they are not fully clothed, such as at the beach or swimming pool.
There are several different types of scar, all requiring individual treatment, but these can be broken down into two main categories. Depressed area scars are the more common and are caused by a loss of tissue. A typical depressed area scar would be an ice pick scar that resembles a sharp dent in the skin. The second type of scar is a raised area scar. These are less common, tend to be hereditary, and are caused by over production of collagen as the immune system tries to heal the acne. Some people believe they have permanent acne scarring when actually what they have is macules or post inflammatory pigmentation. Macules are red areas that are the last stage of an acne lesion and last for up to six months, and post inflammatory pigmentation is a slight skin discoloration where an acne lesion has healed, which lasts up to eighteen months. Your dermatologist will be able to tell you if you have either of these conditions rather than permanent scarring.
So what can be done to treat permanent acne scars? There are now a number of procedures that your dermatologist will consider to treat your scarring. They need to look at each case separately because a treatment that may rid one person of acne scars may make scarring worse for another. The surgical options available include collagen injections, transfer of fat to fill scars caused by loss of tissue, dermabrasion to remove raised scars, laser treatment, and skin grafts. For most of these treatments to work, you need to be free of active acne, and have only the scars remaining.
If you have active acne and are worried about scarring, consult a dermatologist straight away. If you already have scars don’t worry. The wide range of treatments available means that there is almost certainly a way to dramatically reduce their appearance.

Many of these are cures that have been passed down from generation to generation. They are broken down into 2 categories. The blackheads category is more for prevention than curing an outbreak of pimples. This is the category you should use most because, the most important factor in acne control is early prevention. The second category, acne cures is used if an outbreak has already occurred.
Before starting any of these treatments, you must first be sure that you are not allergic to any of the ingredients that are used. All of these treatments are intended to be used along with your normal skin cleansing. You should wash your face twice daily with a mild soap and water. When washing your face you should be gentle, as harsh scrubbing can cause severe outbreaks of acne.

Blackheads
Mix lime juice and milk in a 1 to 1 ratio. The milk should be allowed to come to room temperature before mixing. Once mixed this is used as a cleanser in problem areas, where the skin may be oily. Use every other day under normal circumstances.
Mix neem leaves and tumeric powder into a very thin paste this can be used to gently wash the face. Use every other day.
Boil 2 teaspoons of Funigreek in a gallon of water; allow cooling to room temperature. This can be used every other day as a facial wash.

Acne cures
Make salt and vinegar paste. Apply directly to pimples wait 30 minutes and wash face. This can be done nightly if needed. This works because the salt and vinegar have natural abilities to draw liquids out of the skin, thus it draws the trapped oils out of the pimple. Make a paste out of roasted and ground pomegranite seeds with fresh lime juice. Apply directly to pimples.
Apply a paste of 1 teaspoon of nutmeg and 1 teaspoon of room temperature milk directly to pimples allows staying for 1-2 hours and rinse.
All of these natural are general acne prevention and cure techniques and may not work for specific skin conditions. Using these natural cures for acne can help you control it, if for some reason these do not help you should look in to over the counter remedies. Many of the medications today are targeted to specific types of acne breakouts.

If you want to know how to get rid of pimples, and deal with other skin problems like oiliness and blackheads, take a look at these great tips from the acne prevention experts at Nature’s Cure. Oily hair can aggravate acne, so stay away from oily products like pomades or hair spray, especially if you want to get rid of pimples on your forehead.
If your hair is long, wear it pulled back or consider a shorter style that keeps it off your face, neck and shoulders if acne prevention is important in those areas. Be sure to pull your hair away from your skin when you sleep so that pimples don’t develop overnight. Use “noncomedogenic” (won’t clog pores or cause blackheads) or “nonacnegenic” (won’t cause pimples) cosmetics and suntan lotions.
Avoid using moisturizers on acne-prone areas to get rid of pimples you have there or practice good acne prevention; if you do use a moisturizer, make sure it is not acnegenic. Use topical treatments, such as Nature’s Cure medicated spray, anywhere that you tend to get breakouts for acne prevention - don’t just spot-treat existing blackheads and pimples. The pore-clogging process happens two to three weeks before any blackheads or blemishes become visible on the skin. Since the salicylic acid acne medication in the body spray is an exfoliant, it helps to remove the dead skin that combines with oil and dirt to form those nasty blackheads and whiteheads that can get infected and become pimples.
Wash the skin gently with a mild soap or cleanser and warm (not hot) water once or twice daily. Hot water and harsh cleansers can further irritate your skin and undermine your acne prevention efforts. It’s tempting to try to scrub away acne, but that’s not how to get rid of pimples. Scrubbing too hard or too frequently can actually make your acne worse and promote scarring by increasing inflammation or rupturing cysts under your skin, making bacteria spread. Don’t pick acne or blackheads on your face or body. It can permanently scar your skin. If you must pick, immediately apply a topical antibiotic to help stave off infection. Since stress can trigger acne, try to avoid stressful situations, resolve stresses by talking to friends/family or a professional, and be sure to eat right and get enough sleep. Sometimes the stress of having acne and trying to figure out how to get rid of pimples can make things worse. But if you take action toward acne prevention with these tips, you can diffuse some of that stress.
Exercising regularly can also help reduce stress and it increases blood circulation and oxygen penetration to the skin, which may help with acne prevention. Drink at least 64 ounces of water a day to help “detoxify” the body from the inside out. Avoid hot, humid environments such as poorly ventilated kitchens, gyms, or tropical climates and stay away as much as possible from cooking grease or machine oil that can contribute to blackheads and clogged pores.
If you work out, bring along pre-moistened alcohol towelettes to wipe sweat off your face, back and chest. Use towels to cover neck and chest areas to prevent coming in direct contact with the equipment. If you want to know how to get rid of pimples on your body, you need to realize that bumps on chest and back can be caused by tight fitting workout clothes that trap moisture and heat, so wear loose-fitting all-cotton clothing when you work out. Wear loose fitting clothing whenever possible and try to avoid friction against the skin caused by helmets, straps, backpacks or handbags. Sweat combines with skin oils to trap dirt and bacteria in your pores, causing blackheads and pimples, so it’s important to shower as soon as possible after you work out or sweat profusely.
Clean cosmetic brushes regularly in soapy water and throw out old, contaminated makeup. Since bacteria are one of the key causes of acne, anything that keeps bacteria from touching your skin will help in acne prevention.

Different people have different body compositions. So, they have different balance and interaction of hormones and oil glands. It may be small or big depending on its severity. There are various types of acne. These include acne vulgaris, genital acne, hormonal acne, pregnancy acne and baby acne. Thus, proper prevention is the best solution to reduce the severity and frequency of acne. Acne prevention measures include taking special care of your skin, hair, diet and exercise. To begin with skin, always avoid using cosmetics, which contains chemical ingredients. Choose oil free cosmetics. You must wash your face at least twice a day with a mild soap in order to keep your face clean and oil free. This removes dead skin cells and excess surface oils that cause acne to appear. You must remove make up, before going to sleep and apply sunscreens in order to avoid sunburn.
Hair is important part of ones personality and it also plays an important role in causing acne. The excess of oil in the hair also gets introduced on the face that cause acne marks. Therefore, you must wash your hair regularly so as to avoid this. While sleeping you must push your hair aside from the face so as to let the skin rejuvenate itself.
Diet also plays a major role. Though, diet does not cause acne but it definitely contributes to the state of acne. Certain vitamins like vitamin E, A and B5 help in healing the damaged skin. Zinc is required in large quantity to detoxify the body of the bacteria, which causes acne. Thus, healthy and nutritious diet helps you in attaining a healthy and acne free skin. Exercise not only helps you in remaining fit but also gives you a healthy skin. It reduces stress and balances hormones and also increases the circulation of blood and oxygen to the skin. This prevents the excessive oil to collect on skin. The sweat generated by exercise cleans skin pores and reduces acne.
Though, there are various acne skin care treatment products that can help you in removing the acne but if you take proper care of your diet, hair, skin and exercise regularly, you can prevent acne to occur.
